Alycia has always identified as a singer, starting her journey as a young teenager when she picked up a guitar. Her early inspiration came from overhearing her musician father and uncle jamming, leading her to write her first song around the age of 12. Alycia's music blends folk, alt-pop, and indie rock, influenced by artists like Blake Mills, Phoebe Bridgers, Laura Marling, and Big Thief. The 90s female singer-songwriters and bands also play a significant role in shaping her musical sensibilities.

Alycia’s songwriting process has evolved over the years. Initially, she would write songs in one sitting, viewing the process as a form of catharsis. Now, she approaches songwriting with more intention, allowing songs to develop over time. She emphasizes the importance of patience and getting out of her own way to let the music take its course. Alycia typically writes on guitar or keyboard, often composing music and lyrics simultaneously.

In a 2019 interview with GroundSounds, Alycia discussed her single 'Projector,' which features a blend of folk and pop with bubbling percussion and reverberating guitar strums. The song reflects a moment of newfound empowerment, distinguishing personal baggage from external projections. It marks a shift from passivity to assertiveness, embodying Alycia's journey toward self-awareness and authenticity.

Her upcoming record, Speak The Word To Hear The Sound, explores themes of life’s transitions through a variety of musical genres. The album features hard-hitting rock songs about feminine rage and reflective folk tunes about childhood, each song offering a unique perspective on universal experiences. The first two singles, 'Bad Luck Bad Habit' and 'My Kind,' have already been released by Mtn Laurel Recording Co.

Alycia is an advocate for the solo projects of her bandmates and fellow musicians. She praises the work of Lauren O’Connell and Madeline Kenney, highlighting their intelligence and storytelling abilities. Alycia’s collaborative spirit extends to her live performances, where she brings together a talented group of musicians to create a rich, dynamic sound.
