Chappell Roan, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz on February 19, 1998, in Willard, Missouri, is an American singer and songwriter who has quickly made a name for herself in the pop music scene. Growing up in a small, conservatively Christian town, Roan felt out of place and struggled with her identity, finding solace and inspiration in the music of pop heavyweights like Katy Perry. Her passion for music led her to upload a song titled 'Die Young' to YouTube at the age of 17, catching the attention of Atlantic Records and starting her professional career.
Roan's stage name is a tribute to her late grandfather, Dennis K. Chappell, and his favorite song, 'The Strawberry Roan'. Despite the rapid onset of her music career, which led her to miss significant high school milestones, Roan's family, including her parents Kara and Dwight Amstutz, and her siblings, supported her journey. Her mother is a veterinarian, and she is the oldest of four children.
