Resto's first taste of professional music came at a wedding, an experience that not only paid well but also ignited his passion for performance. It was a moment of realization - he could play his beloved bass, dress impeccably, and indulge in wedding cake! This epiphany marked the beginning of a lifelong dedication to music.

At just seventeen, Resto found himself performing with the prestigious Afro Latin jazz orchestra, "The Machito Orchestra," under the guidance of the legendary Mario Bauza. This opportunity opened doors to other renowned orchestras and bands, solidifying Resto's reputation as a sought-after bassist in the Afro-Latin and Jazz genres.

In 1975, Resto joined the Grammy-winning Eddie Palmieri Orchestra, breaking barriers and introducing Afro Latin music to a global audience. His unparalleled skills allowed him to share stages and studios with music legends such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Carlos Santana, and many more. His journey led him to Los Angeles, where he continued to collaborate with world-class musicians, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.

Resto's dedication isn't confined to stages; he's a committed educator and community advocate. Holding a master's degree in Afro-Latin music, he imparts his knowledge to the next generation. His involvement with youth organizations demonstrates his belief in the transformative power of music education.

In October 2015, I was deeply moved to accept this recognition on behalf of the Rudy Regalado scholarship fund. Empowering children with the gift of music is a profound blessing, and I am honored to be part of this meaningful cause. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Norka for her tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and steadfast commitment to her father, Rudy Regalado's, social visions and contributions.
