Early Life and Education
Emma Garland was born and raised in South Wales, United Kingdom. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Bath Spa University, earning a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing in 2010. Following this, she completed an MA in International Journalism at Cardiff University, graduating with distinction. Her thesis focused on the use of satire and political humor by oppositional groups as a method of nonviolent resistance, examining conflicts in Syria, Egypt, Serbia, and Russia.

Emma began her career in digital and print media over a decade ago, focusing on countercultural storytelling and fun-first editorial.
