Giafu's journey into the professional realm of salsa started when she met a manager in Hong Kong, who recognized her dedication. Encouraged to DJ at local salsa parties, she began honing her skills. Her manager guided her, emphasizing the importance of song selection and understanding the genre's nuances. Giafu's unique journey, being from Hong Kong, added a distinctive flavor to her DJing, bridging cultures and introducing salsa to new audiences.

During the pandemic, Giafu's passion took a creative turn. Collaborating with renowned artist Angel Melendez, she embarked on an ambitious project: producing a big band salsa album. Their collaboration birthed Kong Records, a label created on the fly to release this unique musical endeavor. With a 20-piece band and 30 artists, they crafted a groundbreaking salsa album, bringing together old classics and new arrangements in a harmonious blend.

Gia's love affair with salsa began unexpectedly. As a teenager attending a breakdancing party in Hong Kong, she was entranced by the infectious energy of Roberto Roena’s “Que Se Sepa.” Little did she know that this chance encounter would shape her destiny. Raised in a family where dance was a way of life, thanks to her mother's role as a ballroom dance teacher, Gia quickly grasped the essence of Latin music's soul-stirring melodies and intricate rhythms.

Gia’s passion for salsa went far beyond the dance floor. In her relentless pursuit of authenticity, she embarked on a tireless quest, spanning continents, to collect rare salsa records. With over a decade of painstaking cataloging and research, she unearthed hidden gems that had eluded the digital realm.
