GRACEY

Grace Barker, known professionally as GRACEY, was born on February 20, 1998, in Brighton, United Kingdom. Raised in a creative household, her mother worked in production at the BBC, and her father was involved in the advertising industry. She has two older brothers. During her early childhood, the family moved to Haywards Heath. GRACEY credits her dyslexia with fostering her creativity, leading her to pursue music from a young age. She attended the BRIT School in London from 2012 to 2016, where she studied musical theatre and honed her songwriting skills.

GRACEY's professional music career began at the age of sixteen when she joined the production team Xenomania. Her first professionally recorded song was "By Your Side" by Jonas Blue featuring Raye, which achieved platinum certification in the UK. In March 2019, she released her debut single, "Different Things," originally written as a demo for Little Mix. She has also penned songs for artists such as Sub Focus, Rita Ora, Olly Murs, and Kylie Minogue. Her breakthrough as a solo artist came in 2020 with the single "Don't Need Love," a collaboration with 220 KID that peaked at number 9 on the UK Singles Chart and earned a BRIT Award nomination. Following this success, she released "Empty Love," a collaboration with Australian singer Ruel. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the postponement of her first headline tour, GRACEY continued to create and release music, including the EPs "Imposter Syndrome" (2019) and "Fragile" (2021). In January 2023, she announced her departure from Polydor Records to pursue an independent career.

GRACEY cites a diverse range of artists as her musical influences, including Sia, The 1975, Lorde, Joni Mitchell, and Robyn. These artists have inspired her to blend emotive lyrics with contemporary pop sounds, creating music that resonates with a wide audience. Her background in musical theatre and her experiences at the BRIT School have also played a significant role in shaping her artistic style and performance approach.

GRACEY's discography includes the mini-album "The Art of Closure" released in November 2020, and the extended plays "Imposter Syndrome" (2019) and "Fragile" (2021). She has also released several singles, including "Different Things" (2019), "If You Loved Me" (2019), "Don't Need Love" with 220 KID (2020), "Empty Love" with Ruel (2020), "Got You Covered" with Billen Ted (2021), "Lonely Heart" with Jax Jones & Martin Solveig (2022), "Delirium" (2024), "Rhetorical Questions" (2024), and "Back to Then" (2024). Her collaborations and solo projects showcase her versatility and ability to connect with listeners through relatable themes and catchy melodies.

In 2019, GRACEY underwent surgery for vocal cord nodules, a significant challenge for any singer. This experience influenced her music and provided her with a deeper understanding of the importance of vocal health. She has been open about this journey, sharing her experiences to raise awareness and support others facing similar challenges.
