Roni Kaspi

Born in July 2000 in Tel Aviv, Israel, Roni Kaspi developed a passion for music at a young age. She began playing drums at seven, drawn to the instrument's rhythm and energy. Her parents, though not musicians themselves, nurtured her interest in music. Roni attended the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, where she honed her skills and deepened her understanding of music theory and performance.

After high school, Roni pursued further education at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Under the mentorship of Grammy-winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, she expanded her musical horizons and refined her technique. Roni graduated from Berklee in 2021, ready to embark on a professional music career.

In 2020, Roni Kaspi's career took a significant leap when she joined the renowned Avishai Cohen Trio as their drummer. This opportunity arose after Cohen discovered her impressive drumming through an Instagram video. At just 20 years old, Roni filled the role previously held by esteemed drummers like Mark Guiliana.

Her collaboration with the trio included extensive international touring and a pivotal role in the 2022 album 'Shifting Sands'. Roni's dynamic and innovative drumming style contributed to the album's success, which received critical acclaim and topped various international jazz charts. This experience solidified her reputation as a formidable talent in the jazz world.

While performing with Avishai Cohen, Roni Kaspi was also developing her own musical identity. In 2024, she released her debut EP titled 'PONI', marking her emergence as a solo artist. The six-track EP showcases her abilities as a drummer, singer-songwriter, and producer, blending jazz with alt-pop and electronic influences.

Tracks like 'Falling With You' and 'You Shine' highlight Roni's eclectic style and willingness to push musical boundaries. The EP received positive reviews for its innovative sound and groove, positioning Roni as a versatile and forward-thinking artist in the contemporary music scene.

Roni Kaspi's contributions to music have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, she was honored with Drumeo's 'Best Jazz Drummer of the Year' award at the age of 23. This accolade reflects her exceptional skill and impact on the jazz community.

Beyond awards, Roni has performed at prestigious festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Red Sea Jazz Festival.
