Alyx Holcombe

Alyx Holcombe demonstrated a passion for performance from an early age. She pursued her interest in the arts by obtaining a Level 3 diploma in musical theatre at South East Essex College. This educational background laid the foundation for her diverse career in the entertainment industry.

Alyx's radio career took a significant leap when she joined Kerrang! Radio in March 2022, hosting a brand-new show from 6-9pm every Monday to Thursday. Her goal was to celebrate everything new in rock and metal, regardless of the band's size. Her energetic and knowledgeable approach quickly resonated with listeners.

In December 2023, Alyx expanded her broadcasting repertoire by becoming the host of BBC Radio 1's Indie Show. This role further solidified her position as a prominent voice in the UK's alternative music scene, allowing her to reach a broader audience and showcase emerging talent.

Beyond traditional radio, Alyx is a prolific content creator and podcaster. She created 'ALYX PLAYS PUNK' to spotlight underground bands that often go unnoticed. The show has been listened to in 61 countries and has charted at number six globally, reflecting its widespread appeal.

Additionally, Alyx co-hosts the podcast 'On Wednesdays We Wear Black', which has charted at number two on Apple Music Charts. Hosted by women and non-binary people of color, the podcast delves into the alternative music lifestyle, discussing topics ranging from gigs and fashion to more profound issues like racism and sex. It's the only alternative music podcast that covers such a broad spectrum of lifestyle topics, making it a unique platform in the industry.

Alyx is known for giving voices to the underrepresented in the music industry. Her efforts have led to bands getting signed to worldwide record labels, showcasing her influence and commitment to promoting emerging talent. Her work has not only provided a platform for new artists but has also enriched the music scene with fresh and diverse sounds.

In addition to her broadcasting and podcasting endeavors, Alyx has a background in acting and music performance. She began her acting career in 2012, filling in for a role in a low-budget horror short. She also played bass guitar for the all-girl band 'Petty Phase', which successfully released music on platforms like Spotify and iTunes. The band consistently played live gigs to sell-out crowds, further showcasing Alyx's versatility and talent in the entertainment industry.
