BAYNK's journey to becoming a celebrated electronic artist was serendipitous. While in Budapest, stocking up on alcohol for the Sziget Festival, he received a life-changing phone call from Mark Kneebone, a veteran promoter organizing the Auckland leg of the Laneway music festival. Kneebone had stumbled upon BAYNK's track 'Sundae' on SoundCloud and saw potential in the young artist's sound. Despite having just one song online and no live performance experience, BAYNK accepted the offer to perform at Laneway, marking the beginning of his professional music career.

BAYNK's path to music was unconventional. Raised in Hawkes Bay and educated in Christchurch, he initially pursued a degree in chemical engineering. However, the prospect of a traditional engineering career was unappealing. As he finished his degree, BAYNK turned to music, producing over 70 songs on his laptop without much thought of making it a career. His 77th song, 'Sundae,' gained traction and led to his first major performance, catalyzing his transition from engineering to music.

Influenced by artists like Flume and the tropical house genre, BAYNK's music evolved into a unique blend of upbeat and summery electronica. His tracks are characterized by intricate drum patterns, chirpy vocal loops, and a fresh, crisp sound. BAYNK's live performances are distinguished by his use of the saxophone, adding an unexpected and dynamic element to his shows.

Since his debut at Laneway, BAYNK has performed at some of the world's most renowned music festivals, including Lollapalooza and Coachella. His ability to create a euphoric atmosphere with his music has made him a favorite in the electronic music circuit. BAYNK's performances are not just about the music but the entire experience, often featuring live instrumentation and engaging visuals.
