Sibling Songwriting Across Noise Rock and Dance
Cold Court grew out of an initial eight-piece no wave ensemble that Jojo formed in college, eventually solidifying into a four-piece live band anchored by Jojo and Mini as equal songwriters and producers. Their sound fuses distorted guitar work with danceable rhythms and clipped vocals that shift between rapping and rock balladry.
The siblings cite Justice, SebastiAn, J Dilla, and Arca as production influences alongside blues tradition, and draw on theatrical works like 'Sunday in the Park with George' and 'Red' to inform their presentation. Their debut EP, '\(^_^)/' (also styled 'HANDS UP'), showcases a maximalist production style that combines live instrumentation with studio manipulation.
