By her teenage years, Déyyess had developed into a skilled footballer, catching the attention of scouts from Arsenal Girls. However, despite the promising opportunity, she made the difficult decision to turn down a potential football career in favor of her true passion—music. 'I lost sleep turning that down, but as much as I love it, football just wasn’t a career I wanted to pursue,' Déyyess reflects. 'With music, you can give something that comes directly from you, a part of your own story to give to others.'

Déyyess’s musical journey began in earnest at the age of 15 when she started performing covers in local pubs, often using her sister's ID to get gigs. A year later, she began writing her own songs, channeling her personal experiences and emotions into her music. 'I’m so glad that happened to me,' she adds, reflecting on the heartbreak that has shaped much of her work.

Working with a production duo called Opera, she has been busy writing and recording new material, excited about the direction her music is taking. 'I feel like I’m finally on the right track with the right people who believe in my vision,' she shares.

'Women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights are really important right now,' she asserts. 'It’s important to recognize who you are and who you want to be, and to force change in those gender norms.'
