Jessica Delijani, known professionally as Disco Shrine, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, to Iranian immigrant parents. Growing up in a culturally rich household, she was exposed to traditional Persian music, which ignited her passion for the arts. At 16, Jessica taught herself to play the guitar and banjo, initially delving into folk music. Her early compositions were deeply personal, reflecting her experiences and heritage.

During her teenage years, Jessica performed at local venues, sharing her folk-inspired songs with intimate audiences. However, she soon realized that her true calling lay in creating music that encouraged joy and movement. The track was inspired by her parents' immigration story from Iran to the United States, resonating with listeners worldwide. It received acclaim from outlets like Refinery29 and charted in countries including Spain, Greece, France, and Sweden. To support the release, Disco Shrine curated pop-up events in unconventional locations to advocate for immigrant rights, showcasing her commitment to social causes.

Following this success, she continued to release singles that blended pop sensibilities with electronic elements. Her performances at venues like The Wiltern and The Troubadour, as well as festivals such as Miami Music Week and NY Fashion Week, solidified her reputation as a dynamic live performer.

In 2021, Disco Shrine released her debut EP, 'xoxo, disco,' a project that chronicled her experiences navigating the dating scene in Los Angeles. The EP featured tracks like 'Future Memories,' which delved into themes of love, independence, and self-empowerment. Collaborating with artists such as Liz Nistico of Holychild and producer Ceci G, the EP showcased her growth as a songwriter and performer.

The release of 'xoxo, disco' also introduced her alter ego, Persian Barbie, symbolizing a creative rebirth and embracing her cultural identity. This persona allowed her to explore themes of femininity, empowerment, and self-expression more deeply. The EP received positive reviews for its honest storytelling and genre-blending sound, further establishing Disco Shrine as a versatile and authentic artist.
