Thomas Gangemi, known professionally as Gan Gemi, was born and raised in London, United Kingdom. At the age of 10, during a family holiday, he was introduced to music production when a family friend demonstrated how to program a drum groove using GarageBand. This experience ignited his passion for music creation, leading him to experiment with a microphone, laptop, and a borrowed synthesizer. Over the next six years, Thomas dedicated himself to listening, learning, and honing his production skills, laying the foundation for his future career.

Growing up in a multicultural household, with Italian and Chinese-Malaysian heritage, Thomas was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences. This rich cultural background played a significant role in shaping his eclectic musical style, blending various genres and sounds to create something uniquely his own.

Gan Gemi's professional journey began in his teenage years when he started producing beat tapes inspired by artists like Tom Misch, Kanye West, and J Dilla. His early works showcased a deep appreciation for sample-based hip-hop production, characterized by intricate beats and soulful melodies.

In 2023, he released the EP 'Two Images,' a project that seamlessly blended meditative soundscapes with jazz-infused elements.
