Joe Little

Born on July 14, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, Joe N Little III grew up immersed in a rich musical environment. From a young age, he exhibited a profound passion for music, often participating in local talent shows and church choirs. This early exposure laid the foundation for his future career in the music industry.

In 1987, Joe, along with friends Edward Lee Banks, Larry Marcus, and Melvin Sephus, formed the R&B group Rude Boys. Their talent caught the attention of renowned R&B singer Gerald Levert, who played a pivotal role in securing them a record deal with Atlantic Records. This partnership marked the beginning of Joe's professional journey in the music world.

The Rude Boys' debut album, 'Rude Awakening,' released in 1990, featured the hit single 'Written All Over Your Face,' which topped the Billboard R&B charts and earned the group a Billboard Music Award for the No. 1 R&B song of 1991. This success catapulted Joe and the Rude Boys into the national spotlight, solidifying their place in the R&B genre.

Following their initial success, the group released two more albums: 'Rude House' in 1992 and 'Rude As Ever' in 1997. These projects showcased their evolving sound and continued to resonate with fans, further establishing their legacy in the music industry.

In 1994, Joe embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album 'Puttin' It Down' under the name J. Little. The album featured singles like 'The Hump Is On' and 'Me and You,' highlighting his versatility as an artist. Beyond his solo endeavors, Joe collaborated with a plethora of artists, including Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat, and The Temptations. Notably, his work on The Temptations' album 'Ear-Resistible' contributed to its Grammy Award win for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Album.

Joe's songwriting and production skills have been sought after by numerous artists, leading to collaborations with names like Aretha Franklin, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg. His ability to blend traditional R&B elements with contemporary sounds has made him a respected figure in the music industry.

Beyond his musical achievements, Joe has ventured into entrepreneurship. In 2010, he opened Urbean Joe Coffee House in Cleveland, Ohio, providing a community space that reflects his commitment to his hometown. The success of the initial location led to the opening of a second branch in 2011.

In recent years, Joe has continued to release new music, including singles like 'When I Think Of You' in 2019. Additionally, he expanded his creative pursuits by publishing a children's book titled 'Joey Wants to Sing' in 2024, aiming to inspire young readers to follow their dreams.
