Mica Sotera

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mica Sotera developed a passion for music at an early age. She began playing the guitar and writing songs during her teenage years, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of musical genres. Her early exposure to both traditional Argentine music and contemporary international sounds helped shape her unique musical style.

In 2018, Mica started sharing her music online, releasing her first single 'El Mar'. This initial step into the music industry allowed her to connect with a growing audience and set the foundation for her future projects.

Mica Sotera gained national recognition through her participation in the 2022 edition of 'La Voz Argentina'. Her performances captivated both the judges and the audience, leading her to become one of the top ten contestants in the team led by Mau and Ricky Montaner.

Her rendition of 'Por una cabeza' during the competition was particularly well-received, showcasing her ability to reinterpret classic songs with her distinctive style. This exposure significantly expanded her fan base and opened up new opportunities in her musical career.

In December 2023, Mica released her debut album, 'En el espacio', a collection of eight tracks that traverse genres such as indie, pop, and rock. The album includes seven original songs and a unique version of the tango 'Por una cabeza'.

The lead single, 'Donde vamos', was released in late 2021, followed by 'Imán', which featured a music video co-directed by Mica herself. Other notable tracks include 'La razón' and 'No llamaste', each contributing to the album's exploration of themes like love, heartbreak, and personal growth.

The album was produced and mixed by Emi Macchi at Estudio El Refugio, with contributions from musicians like Guille Salort on drums and Fran Cirimele on Rhodes piano. The mastering was done by Nacho de la Riega, ensuring a polished and cohesive sound throughout the record.

Beyond her musical talents, Mica Sotera has a strong background in visual arts, including directing and photography. She has directed several of her own music videos, incorporating a vintage-modern aesthetic that complements her musical style.

Her directorial work extends beyond her own projects, as she has collaborated with other artists in the Argentine music scene. This multidisciplinary approach allows her to create a cohesive artistic vision that resonates across different mediums.

Mica has performed on numerous stages alongside prominent figures in the Argentine music industry, including Lito Vitale and Coti. She has also opened for Silvina Moreno at Niceto Club, showcasing her ability to engage live audiences.

In January 2020 and 2022, she embarked on tours across various cities and provinces in Argentina, sharing the stage with other notable singer-songwriters. Her performances have also reached international audiences, with shows in Mexico, the United States, and Uruguay, often collaborating with other female musicians to promote women in music.
