Michael Todd Gordon, known professionally as Mk.gee, was born on September 27, 1996, in Somers Point, New Jersey. Raised in the nearby town of Linwood, he exhibited a passion for music from an early age. At five, he began studying piano and composing his own pieces, demonstrating a natural aptitude for melody and harmony. By the age of eleven, he had picked up the guitar, an instrument that would become central to his artistic identity.

During his teenage years at Mainland Regional High School, Gordon's musical interests expanded to include jazz, influenced in part by his grandparents, who ran a jazz society in Somers Point.
