Raresh, born Rareș Ionuț Iliescu, is a Romanian DJ and producer from Bacău, roughly 300 kilometers from Bucharest. He co-founded the influential [a:rpia:r] label and is regarded as one of the most celebrated DJs of his generation in Romania's minimal techno scene.

From a Bootleg Prodigy Tape to Founding [a:rpia:r]
Raresh first encountered electronic music in 1997 through an illegal tape of The Prodigy's 'The Fat of the Land.' He began DJing at a local discotheque, XXL, at age 15 in 1999, and became a resident DJ at Zebra in December 2000, performing there every weekend.
He moved to Bucharest in 2003 to study chemical engineering, dropping out in 2006 to join Sunrise Booking and focus entirely on music. His encyclopedic musical knowledge earned him the nickname 'Google' within the scene. Around 2006-2007, he co-founded [a:rpia:r] alongside Rhadoo and Petre Inspirescu, a label credited with releasing the Romanian minimal techno community's seminal productions, and the three also collaborate together as the RPR project.
