The victim managed to escape when Sid S. fell asleep, and she immediately sought help from the police.

The traumatic experience has left the victim suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and required years of therapy to cope with the aftermath. Despite the defense's attempts to discredit the victim's account, the court found sufficient evidence to convict Sid S. of rape.

Rens Kroes's association with Sid S. has sparked controversy, especially considering their secret marriage in 2018, prior to his conviction. Questions have been raised about her decision to marry a convicted rapist, leading to public scrutiny and criticism.
