VLURE

VLURE emerged from Glasgow's rich musical landscape in early 2020, bringing together five young musicians with a shared vision of blending post-punk vigor with electronic dance rhythms. The lineup features vocalist Hamish Hutcheson, vocalist and synth player Alexandra Pearson, guitarist and programmer Conor Goldie, bassist Niall Goldie, and drummer Carlo Kriekaard. Their collective backgrounds in various musical projects across the city laid the foundation for VLURE's distinctive sound.

From the outset, the band aimed to create music that resonated with the energy of Glasgow's underground club scene while incorporating the rawness of post-punk. This fusion was evident in their early rehearsals and quickly became the hallmark of their style. Their commitment to authenticity and emotional expression set them apart in a crowded music scene, garnering attention from local venues and music enthusiasts.

In March 2021, VLURE released their debut single 'Shattered Faith' through Permanent Creeps Records. The track showcased their ability to merge heavy electronic beats with post-punk aggression, creating a sound that was both fresh and familiar. Critics praised the single for its intensity and the band's fearless approach to genre-blending.

The release of 'Shattered Faith' was accompanied by a limited edition transparent yellow 7-inch vinyl, which quickly sold out, reflecting the growing demand for their music. The single's success opened doors for the band, leading to increased radio play and invitations to perform at prominent venues and festivals across the UK.

Building on the momentum of their debut single, VLURE released their 'Euphoria' EP in January 2022. The five-track EP included songs like 'Show Me How to Live Again' and 'I Won't Run (From Love)', further solidifying their reputation for crafting anthemic tracks that resonate on the dance floor and beyond.

Their live performances became a focal point of their identity, characterized by high energy, emotional intensity, and a connection with the audience that turned each show into a communal experience. Notable performances at venues like London's Windmill and MOTH Club, as well as a sold-out hometown show at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, highlighted their growing popularity.

VLURE's ability to translate their studio recordings into electrifying live shows earned them a spot at major festivals, including The Great Escape and Reeperbahn, where they captivated international audiences and expanded their fan base.

After a brief hiatus, VLURE returned in March 2025 with the single 'Better Days', marking their first new music since the 2023 'Heaven Sent' EP. The track is a nostalgic ode to friendship and community, reflecting on the band's experiences growing up in Glasgow. Influenced by 90s dance music icons like Orbital and Underworld, 'Better Days' blends spoken-word elements with euphoric beats, showcasing the band's evolution and maturity.

The accompanying video, filmed on New Year's Eve by Emma Ross, captures the essence of the song's themes, portraying moments of camaraderie and the passage of time. The release has been met with critical acclaim, with NME describing it as a 'blissed-out banger' that reaffirms VLURE's place in the contemporary music scene.

Looking ahead, VLURE is finalizing their debut album, set for release later this year under Music For Nations. With upcoming performances at major festivals like Reading and Leeds, the band is poised to reach new heights and continue their trajectory as one of Scotland's most exciting musical exports.
